Happy New Year!

Hoping that everyone had a wonderful holiday and perhaps was able to get out and enjoy some time on the slopes.  Sunday River has been in holiday mode with lots of people on lots of trails enjoying lots of snow… For many members, next week kicks off the start of the Prime Time Weekday Ski Season with less people but still lots of trails and lots snow.  With North Peak Lodge everyday, look for your fellow club members there at ~10:10, somewhere near the fireplace, unless the Chondola is not running; in that case look for some familiar faces at Barker Lodge.

The first session of the ‘Masters of the Mountain’ weekday adult lesson program starts at 1:00 PM on 6 January. It’s not too late to sign up – Contact Brenda Saller –  email for more info and to help coordinate.

Our next club event is the New Member Meet & Greet on 8 January at the Sunday River Brewing Company.  New club members that joined in 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons (you and your spouse/partner) are invited to join the club officers at 4:30 PM and to learn a little about the club. The get together is open to all club members starting at 5:30. We will have some appetizers and (of course) there will be a cash/cashless bar.  Dinner-option (on your own) to follow.

Our next club Pot Luck Dinner is on 15 January starting at 5:30 PM at the Dr Moses Mason House / Bethel Historical Society, exhibit hall/barn behind the Dr Moses Mason House; 10 Broad Street in Bethel.  Enter through the Side Door on Mason Street. As usual BYOB and a dish to share.

As we get into Prime Time Ski Season and the resort is busy even on weekdays, I recall the good advice one of the Sunday River ski coaches often said: ‘keep your head on a swivel’; keep looking around you to be aware of your surroundings, snow conditions, and especially other skiers and riders. There are lots of people out there with a wide variety of Abilities & Attitudes, and not all of them know or follow the responsibility code.

Check out the Events page on the website for the latest updates to the club events that are scheduled so far for this season.

If you would like to arrange and or lead an activity or event, or have a great suggestion, we would love to hear from you; and if you would like to contribute any photos to share on the website please contact any board member or reply to this email.
