Is it Spring Yet?
I thought it was, then it wasn’t… Now I just don’t know? But we did have a couple more days of skiing this week that were actually really good, and then… not so much. That’s typical for this time of year in New England. The calendar says it’s spring and the mountain is shutting down, with closing weekend PLANNED for 18-19 April, but first there is Pond-A-Palooza (29 March) and the Passholder’s BBQ (5 April).
That said, it’s not too soon to start planning for next year: maybe some lessons or a seasonal program to improve your skiing and confidence; maybe some new equipment of clothing (on sale now); maybe a day trip to another local mountain (or two), or even a trip to some distant resort next year… and of course don’t forget to buy your Sunday River season’s pass for next year (by 2 April for the best price).
Many members enjoyed some good food and socializing at the End of Year Dinner on 26 March. The link to some photos of the event is HERE. After the dinner, Suzie presented the results of the member survey. The member opinions vary widely, as should be expected, but were generally very positive. There were a number of good suggestions for improvements that the Club should consider for next year; some of which could be easy (like everyone being more open and inviting to new or infrequent members); and some of which are more difficult (like finding new local venues for off-mountain events). Some of the suggestions for new events or get togethers require volunteers to help organize and run the events; It’s the same old problem: we can’t do more with the limited number of volunteers we currently have, we need additional help. Thanks to the members who responded to the survey, and congratulations to Colette Nygren and Laura Beckmann for winning the gift cards. The results of the Member survey available HERE.
