Savor Winter!

February is too short, but what a Great month it was: Plenty of Fresh Snow, the Skiing was consistently very good, more Sunshine everyday, and the Winter Olympics. March is going to have a hard time beating all that! But it looks like we will be off to good start with cold temperatures overnight this week to keep the season going… I’m hopeful.

Our Last Pot Luck Dinner of the season is 5:30 – 8:00, Thursday, 5 March, and we have something special planned: A NEW Venue! We will be the new Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation facility located at 125 Outward Bound Road in Newry. In November 2025, Maine Adaptive partnered with Outward Bound and leased the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School campus in Newry. it is a beautiful location with a large comfortable lodge/dinning hall and not too far from Sunday River. Directions: from the intersection of Sunday River Road and Skiway Road, drive past the Covered Bridge (1.5 miles) and continue on Sunday River Road (do NOT Turn onto Monkey Brook Road you are NOT going to Jordan); look for the sign for Outward Bound on your Right (3.2 miles); Turn RIGHT and go Up this road (0.6 miles). The road ends at the parking lot and you will see the Lodge on your right. There are also a few parking spaces in front of the building. Carpooling is encouraged, as is bringing your own utensils, etc to cut down on waste. As usual BYOB and a dish to share.

Speaking of Maine Adaptive, and for you Skiing Fashionistas out there, mark your calendars for 4:00 – 6:00 on March 14. It’s the Après for Maine Adaptive Fashion Show at the Mayville Union House (formally Grace Note). Admission is free, it is a Great Cause, and you get to check out the restaurant / Inn.
