PTSC 2023-11-13 Sunday River opening announcement, Tomorrow!!!!!!!

Folks,

Sunday River is opening tomorrow!!! Tuesday, November 14, 2023. 9 AM, park and boot up in the lower Jordan Lot, which is just before the main entrance to the Jordan. You’ll see where they have been blowing snow for the access trail at the far end of the lot. I was just there yesterday and you’ll see, trust me on this!

That means you have ALL DAY today to get ready to go skiing. Don’t forget to load your ski pass into the sleeve pocket of your jacket, you’re gonna need that! Dust off your skis, brush the summer storage wax off them, sharpen those edges!

There are a handful of us already confirmed for tomorrow’s skiing. We are going to rendezvous at the base of the Jordan lift, 9 AM!!! That’s right, first chair! Sunday River has asked us not to try to use the hotel for booting up, there is really no appropriate place to do so. So booting up will be in the parking lot.

What to expect??? Variable conditions, as in very variable. They may or may not groom out the access to Lolopalooza, and may or may not groom a strip down the trails. I suspect, based upon what I saw yesterday, that we’ll have 2 trails available, Lolopalooza and Rogue Angel. They have, at times, blown all three Jordan trails, but when the operational gremlins arrive, they shut down Excalibur. We may well be skiing under active snow guns, and will likely run into some nice snow and some really sticky snow. We’ll be testing out the trails carefully. But most importantly, we’ll all have nice huge smiles on our faces!!!!!

Membership. Folks, for the past few weeks, I have received over 2 dozen inquiries about membership. I know, off season, ski related stuff in the email inbox may end up in spam or not getting noticed. So I’ll share the info here again. Bear in mind that off season, the mailbox gets checked less regularly, which shouldn’t matter as all correspondence gets forwarded to Norm Schwartz’s home (our treasurer) who handles membership and dues. It takes some 2 weeks for the mail to get forwarded. From there, the names are sent to Donna, who is our membership chair who sends out an official welcome letter. Again off season, this doesn’t happen as regularly as it would in season.

We have several people who have inquired why they are not in the latest directory. There may be several reasons. If your dues have not been sent in, your name doesn’t go on the directory. If you are over 80 and dues are not required, we still need to hear from you, contact any board member and simply tell us you want to remain a member, for free. Same as getting your free pass from Sunday River, it doesn’t just happen, you have to simply ask. If you notice an inaccuracy in your directory contact info, send us an email, I’ll leave it in the inbox and ask Norm to review.

Paying your dues. You can go to our website and look under join us:

Here you’ll see the info for sending your dues in:
