PTSC 2023-11-05 The River is making snow

Folks,

I was just up at Sunday River yesterday. They were making some snow, but we’ve got warm weather again, so it’s offline for now. They have not announced an opening date as of yet. Here are a couple pictures of Rogue Angel and Lolopalooza.

Sunday River’s plan this year is to open up at Jordan. They ask that skiers do not boot up in the hotel, but to do so from your car in the lower Jordan parking lot. They are blowing snow on the access trail to and from that lot. I’m giving my best indication of where to meet the trails in that lot here, for those early season skiers.

Sunday River has crews working on the new Barker 6 Pack. Uphill capacity is roughly the same, but the ride up will be quicker, warmer, and barring teething problems as with any new lift, a whole lot more reliable. Scuttlebutt has the lift opening after Christmas, so we won’t be hopping on it anytime soon. But I think we can all agree it will be well worth the wait, if the reception for the Jordan 8 pack last year was any indicator.
Tremblant!!!
We have another group trip for Prime Time Ski Club members planned for 2024 to Mount Tremblant.  And again, Tremblant has offered us some very good deals on lodging & lifts. The dates are 17 – 24 March, 2024, but you can choose to stay for only one night or all seven nights, and ski up to 6 days. If you are interested contact Glenn Saller at glenns1093@gmail.com for details.

Lessons
Brenda Saller has again approached the River for Primetime lessons, and while the details have yet to be worked out, they are a go! Stay tuned for more info.

One last item. Pot luck venues. We, as a group, are outgrowing the venues available at the Jordan and Summit. We have had over 70 people at some of these. Game nights are not an issue, they remain small enough that we can continue to use the current venues. We have researched local meeting halls. Some close for the winter, some do not allow alcohol, and some charge up to $1,000.00 for a single night. We do not want to use private homes, as we will simply overtax a home and the systems. Parking may be an issue as well. We are reaching out to to any here who have a good lead on a meeting place for pot lucks local to Sunday River. We’d need some kitchen facilities, and we do clean up well when finished. We need parking and bathrooms. And reasonable pricing. Please contact any board member with any leads you have.
