White Christmas!
I love a White Christmas. Fortunately we have had a couple nice snowfalls, a cold December and Sunday River snowmaking has been piling it up on the trails. Unfortunately we had a warm day yesterday with some non-white precipitation, but Sunday River does a great job of recovering after a short break from winter weather; and the forecast is for the cold temps to return and a couple inches of snow on Tuesday before Christmas. The resort is now open from the Jordan ‘Iglu’ to Little White Cap (including Spruce and Merrill Hill) and the skiing is pretty darn good, so get out and enjoy some turns before (or during) the holiday week. The North Peak Lodge is now open everyday, so the non-holiday weekday morning meet-up will be there at 10:10, unless the Chondola is not running; in that case look for some familiar faces at Barker Lodge.
Our next club event is the New Member Meet & Greet on 8 January. New club members that joined in 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons (you and your spouse/partner) are invited to join the club officers at 4:30 PM and learn a little about the club. The get together is open to all club members starting at 5:30. We will have some appetizers and (of course) there will be a cash/cashless bar. Dinner-option (on your own) to follow.
Check out the Events page on the website for the latest updates to the club events that are scheduled so far for this season.
In case you missed the last newsletter, or just a reminder:
It’s not too late to sign up for Ski Lessons this season. The new SR weekday adult lesson program is ‘Masters of the Mountain’. Contact Brenda Saller – email for more info and to help coordinate.
It’s also not too late to sign up for the Mount Tremblant Ski Trip (8 – 15 March). Although some of the lodging options have filled up, there are still plenty of rooms available, and the dates are flexible. Contact Glenn Saller – email for more information.
Just for some entertainment (and to waste some time), check out Skimap.org. You will find a huge collection of new and old trail maps from all over the world. Did you know there is a ski area in Liechtenstein? There is even a Sunday River Trail map from 1961 – some of which looks familiar, and Wow how we have grown!
If you would like to arrange and or lead an activity or event, or have a great suggestion, we would love to hear from you; and if you would like to contribute any photos to share on the website please contact any board member or reply to this email.
Hope you have a Happy Holiday and a Healthy New Year! (and a White Christmas!)
