PTSC Newsletter 25 October 2025

We have turned the corner to autumn in Western Maine: the leaves are past peak, the Sunday River Fall Fest and Wife Carrying Contest was as entertaining as ever, and the Chondola is shut down until we start skiing North Peak again! WE CAN NOT WAIT!

PTSC had a great weekend at our Annual Fall Weekend a few weeks ago. It was great to get together and catch up with friends. A SPECIAL THANKS to Wende Gray for hosting our Saturday night get together and dinner.  The Business for the weekend (i.e. the PTSC Annual Meeting) on Sunday morning, included a review of last season’s budget (see the 5 September Newsletter for details), plans for this season’s budget, election of a new Board of Directors, and plans for the 2025-2026 ski season.

Club Board of Directors:  A BIG Thanks to last season’s BOD, especially Bob McQueeney and Cyd McCann, who have dropped off the Board.  The New BOD for this season is:

Suzie Dubois – President

Glenn Saller – Vice President

Norm Schwartz – Treasurer

Eileen Crochiere – Recording Secretary

Donna Coe – Membership Chair

PTSC Winter Schedule:  The first potluck dinner will be at 5:30 on December 11 at the Bethel Historical Society House – Dr Moses Mason House (Mason & Broad Streets). We are currently working on this season’s calendar: Look forward to the monthly potluck dinners, movies at the Gem, game nights, bowling, pickleball, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and day trips to ski some of the other local mountains.  We will try to get the Newsletters out twice each month until January when we will shoot for a weekly update until the end of the season.

Stor-a-Ski at South Ridge:  On-mountain ski storage will be available again for a discounted price for PTSC members. The first time you’re at the mountain just walk up to the building (near the South Ridge Express Lift), let them know you are part of Prime Time Ski Club and that you want to store your skis for the winter. They will put a tag on your skis with your name and each day you ski you just pick them up and go, and then drop them off at the end of the day. The price for us this year is $100 for the whole season (not including service tips at the end of the season).

Meeting Times/Places:  It looks like ‘The Bag” (right side of the courtyard at South Ridge lodge) will be open again this season for anyone to boot-up and store their gear for the day; it’s convenient and has plenty of storage space, but seating can fill up fast before the lifts open; some Prime Time members were meeting there last season at ~8:30 AM.

Anyone (including non-members) that wants to meet up with friends or find someone to ski with, the club will gather most non-holiday weekdays at 10:10 AM in the North Peak Lodge (near the fireplace); or in the Barker Lodge (to the left of the main entrance) if the North Peak Lodge is closed and / or the Chondola is not running. If you want to meet-up with members and / or If the Skiing is Great – Don’t Be Late!

Ski Lessons: This season’s ski Lessons will be a little different. The lessons are open to  anyone (not just PTSC) and there will be two separate, five week sessions. This new Sunday River seasonal program is called ‘Masters of the Mountain’ and is again one day a week (Tuesdays at 1-3 PM) for intermediate to advanced skiers, and led by PSIA-certified coaches. The first session starts 6 January. See the SR website (under Seasonal Programs) for details and to sign-up. Contact Brenda Saller –  email for more info and to help coordinate.

Mt. Tremblant: The Prime Time Ski Club is going back to Mont Tremblant Québec! This year will be the Fifth year that PTSC has made this trip North!  The dates for the trip this season are from 8 to 15 March, but you can choose which days work best for you. Slopeside and mountain village lodging are available with generous discounts on lifts and lodging. We do not ‘Block-Out’ any number of rooms; it’s first come first served, so they may fill-up. Contact Glenn Saller – email for more information.

Finally, we would like some Help from YOU:

1.  We are working on an update to the Website. Please send any recent PTSC related Photos you would like to share and don’t mind if published on the Web to Glenn Saller –  email.

2.  We would like your feedback on which PTSC media you use most (Facebook, website, newsletter, none or all of the above); AND how it can be improved.

3.  We need help. If you would like to arrange and or lead an activity or event, or have a great suggestion, we would love to hear from you.

Please Reply to this email or any Board Member with your feedback and suggestions.

Rumor has it that we are going to have a REALLY SNOWY Winter in Western Maine!

Looking forward to seeing you all and … and if you haven’t already, start doing your stretching and getting in shape for ANOTHER Great Ski Season!

P.S. I promise the next newsletter will not be so LONG.
