2023-12-31 Happy New Year!

Howdy folks,

This has been a “different” Christmas week, eh? Very challenging for Sunday River with all the damage, during the time they should be earning boatloads from ticket sales. In the past three years, they have installed 4 lifts, all kinds of snow guns and improved snowmaking and many other aspects of this resort. I’m sure we all appreciate that. Let’s speak up for the River in support of their efforts!

Monday, we can get back to skiing on our silver and Bronze passes. Gold pass owners have skied thru the week.

Thursday, we have a pot luck scheduled at West Parish Congregational church on the corner of Park and Church St, 5:30 PM. From the comments I received, this was an overall positive experience and worked quite well. Again, this is a church, no smoking or drinking.

Bethel Me rotary club

The Rotary Club of Bethel has initiated an emergency response to the damage and loss caused by the recent flooding. Working in partnership with area agencies and non-profits, Bethel Rotary is acting as a fiscal agent and receiving donations to be used in support of those impacted by the flood. Funding awards will be determined on the basis of need, including, but not limited to housing, food, heat, and other basic necessities. New member meet and greet. We are planning a new member meet and greet, to be held at the Sunday River Brew Pub on January 11th. Come in the main entrance, head to the right, we’ll be down by the fireplace. If you are a new member this year or last, you and your spouse/partner are invited to join the club officers at 4:30 PM and learn a little about what the club is and what it does. At 5:30, the rest of the club members will start showing up. We’ll have some finger foods set out and there will be a cash/cashless bar.
