Early February Update

First things first.  As this post goes up, there is a prediction of actual snow falling from the sky over Newry the week of February 8th.  And here is a very encouraging note from Sue Batchelder, who fractured her hip while skiing in early January:  “Dear Prime Time Members, I want to Thank You for all the support I have received through your calls, visits, cards, thoughts, and prayers.  It is wonderful to have so much support.  I’m doing well and can’t wait to get back.  Sincerely, Sue (Norway Sue)”

Regardless of snow conditions club members are having a blast on and off the slopes.  The Prime Time Ski Club was well represented at the Go50 Retro Race January 27th, since they were the ONLY racers.  Norm Schwartz, Denn Santoro, Jeff Zucchi, and Bob Duplessie braved an icy mountain (Den and Bob racing gates for the first time) to start AND finish the race.  Lynne Zucchi hosted a lovely wine tasting February 2nd with 9 affordable wines available locally.

Don’t ski alone – especially with conditions a bit unpredictable this year.  Meet up at 10:00 at North Peak to join other club members and ski around the mountain looking for the “trail of the day” (they change frequently in these conditions), or email Norine – norjewell@myfairpoint.net (or any Board member) if you are uncertain about who might ski at your pace or can’t get to Northpeak.  She or other Board members will make sure you have people to ski with.

When not skiing, don’t forget the 24/7 fitness club on Parkway in Bethel Tel 824-4766 which is now staffed (from 10 a.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. weekends) – http://workout24-7bethelmaine.com/ – and a bargain for seniors at $10 a month or $25 for 3 months.  And that beautiful building at 99 Main Street all lit up at night?  The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum with a store and preview gallery open every day but Sunday, 10 to 5 (Tel 824-3036)   http://www.mainemineralgemmuseum.org/

When you visit this website, don’t forget to check out the tab above labelled “Press”.  Terri Messer writes a weekly column for the Bethel citizen and the articles are posted there.

Scheduled Club Activities:  Thursday February 11th and Thursday March 10th potlucks at 5:30, Summit, Onwer’s Quarters, 2nd floor – bring something for 5-6 people, BYOB.  The Club supplies plates, cups, etc.  If anyone can arrive a few minutes early and stick around as the crowd thins out to help with set-up and clean-up, please email Norine   norjewell@myfairpoint.net  Thanks in advance!   End of Year Dinner, Thursday, March 31st, stay tuned for details.
