January Newsletter

Dear Members,

PLEASE read, record dates, etc. or check our website for event details. We’re working hard to create a fun-filled calendar for you. RSVP’s help planners and hosts; please respond in a timely manner. Do NOT respond to this e-mail (primetimeskiclub at gmail.com) as it is for distribution only. New members have a special event this year (see below). If you can’t make it, then contact Norine Jewell to to share your iformation if you’d like to be more involved in PT club events (norjewell at myfairpoint.net).

All e-mail addresses on the website will be changed  we are substituting the symbol ‘@’ with the word ‘at’. Topics are bolded; skim and read what is of interest to you. The snow is falling and we’re all eager to get on the slope. There’s lots of fun to be had and new friends to make. Please read the important attachments! Look for bulletins regarding social events. Newsletters cover so much, but I’ll cover more event details in bulletins or attachments. Our ‘partners’ (that offer PT discounts) will also be listed on the website; please support them and honor restrictions (like ‘not valid on holidays’, etc) AND tip staff based on pre-discounted rates. That way we’ll maintain good relations and reap the benefits. Welcome to 2014 Season!

Ciao, Carol

P.S.
I’m listing board members & volunteers at end of newsletter.

PHOTOS of Members

PT member, Joan Stanley, has graciously agreed to assemble membership photos so your board (forgetful people like me) can put names & faces together. PLEASE send a head shot (without helmet or goggles) to her at stanleyjoanat verizon.net with YOUR NAME. There are just so many new members, we old folks can’t keep track! Thanks for your cooperation – this is voluntary, of course. If you don’t know how to do this, we’ll have someone available to take photos at potluck dinners.

Other Photos – Kayak trip photos from the PT annual meeting were taken by Beth Jefferson; https://www.dropbox.com/sh/96bog2efyf8w67j/XJgKmeuysj

Membership Cards are Critical this year!

You’ll need to show your card for discounts or SR vouchers (for lift tickets) so find it and keep it safe. New cards will be available by sending a self addressed, stamped envelope to Anita (address below) and there will be a $5 fee for replacement cards. We’ll waive the fee until the end of January to get everyone in tune with the new policy.

 VOUCHERS Sunday River & others

PLAN AHEAD! Sunday River REQUIRES you to accompany your guest; have your Prime Time membership card and photo ID to buy lift tickets (up to 4 per voucher); the mountain is tightening things up this year.

To obtain a voucher, contact a board member, go to the Mahoosuc Room at 8:30am, or pick them up at the following houses: Ruth & Bruce Marshman, Gail Fortuna, or Herb & Paula Gross (call ahead to arrange times). There’s NO COST for vouchers – get as many as you might need.

Pricing: Sugarloaf: Adult $83, Teen $69, Juniors $58; Sunday River: Adult $87, Teen $69, Juniors $56;  Corporate Pricing: Adult $68, Teen $58, Juniors $48

Discounts are also available on-line so check them out as well. We also get corporate discount at Bretton Woods offers (non-holiday $25 for seniors (65+) but also offers us a club discount for those under 65 ($50/day instead of $79). Mt. Abrams has various deals like $75 Fridays (for a car full of people). Check them all out.

Membership Directory

The directory will be published in January (hard copy ONCE A YEAR); If you join after Dec 31, you will be listed on a monthly addendum.  Hard Copies of the membership directory will be available at events like potlucks (it will not be, and never has been on the website). I’m hearing that some members want the directory sent out by e-mail. After checking with ‘techy’ people, it appears risks are minimal with e-mails; the danger is in listing things on websites.

Prime Time Website We’ve included some valuable member services. You can check the weather, the mountain report (grooming, trails closed, etc.), events, and where the next pot luck will be by visiting our new website and much, much more! Please visit and enjoy. The website is not just about reaching prospective members; it’s about serving current members. ENJOY – www.primetimeskiclub.com

Ski Lessons  (Enter SR SKI PATROL into your cell phones (207 824-5350.)

Ski Lessons at Sunday River; officially there is no PT program. However a group of PT members did set up their own program. Suzie DuBois worked out a deal for herself and a few friends (6 total) to take lessons as a group with a dedicated instructor (and pre-booked dates). Other Prime Time members may wish to do the same. The package is $175 for 6 lessons for 6 people = $30/lesson/person. If you are interested, please contact Joe McMenimen, director of Perfect Turn Program at Sunday River; jmcmenimen at sundayriver.com once you have a group & dates. Check their website (below green terrain section) for pricing & details on group lessons; http://www.sundayriver.com/winter/ski-school/adult-programs
