October 1, 2013 Newsletter

Hi Prime Time Members,

Our annual meeting was held on September 22, 2013 and officers were elected to serve for the 2013/14 year.  Here they are:

 Executive Board

President: Carol Larson
Vice-President: Barbara Richards
Treasurer: Norine Jewels
Secretary/Social Director: Suzie DuBois
Membership: Anita Haskell
Nominating Committee Chairperson: Bruce Marshman

A huge thanks goes out to Suzie for all the planning she did for the annual meeting and the many events – members raved about what fun they had! Also we’d like to thank Mary Jane, Dave and Gus Shiverick for hosting the pot luck dinner at their lovely home.

Board updates:
A query of members at the annual meeting showed overwhelming support for sharing all contact information of members (as it once was done some years ago). We’re working on how to do that and still provide privacy and security. A hard copy of the directory will be given out at events and members can choose to have their information provided in full or in part (name & phone as done last year).

Jeff Zucchi will continue to be our ‘Liason’ with Sunday River Mountain management; he did a great job and forged wonderful relationships with the mountain (remember Go 50 Week?) Kudos! Charlie Standish will serve as the Hospitality Chair (along with Mary’s help). Ruth Marshman will serve a Sunshine person – getting cards out to those who are ill or injured. We’ve got a great team and we will try our best to be responsive – so please give us feedback on events; specifics on what you liked or didn’t like.  Betty Ann Tyson took photos at a couple of events and wants to share them with anyone interested; here’s the link

Getting Ready to SKI

First, do a little exercise to get into ski shape; regular stretching will also help.  Secondly, PLEASE consider having your boot fit checked, your bindings checked and your skis edged and waxed.  Next, a binding check.  It’s about avoiding injury – which at our ages means significantly more than it did in our 20’s & 30’s! Got to protect all those replacement joints (I got a new hip in April!)
2010-2013 Board

Many things have changed in the last three years through the dedicated efforts of members who served on the board under the leadership of Jeff Zucchi. They added a website (www.primetimeskiclub.com) which includes newsletters, activities, events; and links to Sunday River Mountain daily report (& organizations). They forged relationships with Sunday River and its’ management team (Go-50 Week was revitalized with their input).  They gathered many restaurants and retail establishments to provide discounts to our members. Numerous events were planned for when you’re not skiing.  They grew our membership by over 50%! Our website (and the mountain’s link to us) helped people to connect with our group. We all benefited; and I am extremely grateful. KUDOS!

As the ‘new’ board takes over we hope to continue the many successful programs of the previous board and follow the vision established by our founders – “nobody has to ski alone”. Hopefully we can add a little ‘spice’ of our own and have a blast skiing!

Respectfully,

Carol Larson
