PRIMETIME SKI CLUB SAYS GOODBYE FOR THE SEASON

This will be our final submission for the 2011-12 ski season. We had expected to be continuing on into mid-April or so, however Mother Nature, the Jet Stream and maybe Global Warming all came together to minimize both cold weather and snow. Last week Portland recorded six new temperature highs in seven days. One record was beaten by 20 degrees!! I feel sorry and a little scared for all the trees and plants who have been fooled into believing this “head fake”.

Primetime held our End of Season Dinner last Thursday at the Phoenix with a cocktail party and a wonderful dinner. We had 62 members and guests attend on a balmy 70 degree night where the Club President quipped: “Happy 4th of July and welcome to our mid season golf and beach party.” Many Primetimer’s have since left by this time as the slopes have turned from slippery bright white oases, into more like immitation dalmations with white and brown spots. The brown ones hurt.

Nevertheless, everyone in the club wishes to once again thank the Sunday River operations and management teams for a terrific ski season. Sunday River has been noticed as the “go to” mountain in the Northeast with many vacationers seen from as far away as upstate NY, Maryland, and 3-4 Canadian provinces. The mountain really was able to make a silk purse from our weather’s sow’s ear. Thank you!

Primetime will be back again in December or early January with 10am ski meetings at North Peak daily. If you’d like to follow us in the meantime, our website is www.primetimeskiclub.com. We hope to see you next season!
