Primetime Update, March 9, 2013

We’re into the final chapter of the 2012-13 ski season book. If you haven’t been here in a little while the skiing is the best we’ve seen in many years. Yeah!!!! We have all 132 SR trails in all their glory including greens, blues, blacks, doubles as well as glades, trees and bumps. Wow!!! The temps have been warm(ish) but not too warm to melt the snow so it’s comfortable for our Primetimers thinking of wearing their bikinis. *Please advise SR so they may shield the kids! Last year, Mr. Marshman’s bikini was a bit inappropriate.
End of Season Dinner:
As we’re ending a wonderful season we’d like to have everyone join us (45 already signed up) at our Private End of Season Dinner Thursday night March 21st at Sudbury Inn. This is no potluck guys, but a full four course dinner. You’ll have plenty of time to socialize with your PT friends and have a drink or two along with appetizers at our private 90 minute cocktail party. Then find a seat of your choosing at the Sudbury Inn’s fireplace room, bistro room or enclosed porch. After the 30-40 minute presentation you’ll start with a Sudbury Salad and their unbelievable popover rolls (a meal in themselves). Soon after, your chosen entree (steak, chicken marsala or haddock) will be served. When everybody’s satisfied you’ll get to choose your dessert of either creme brule or ice cream puffs with chocolate sauce along with coffee or tea.
Keep in mind, it’s a PRIVATE PARTY, the place has closed just for us, so stick around a while, have an after dinner drink, wine or coffee. Sit and mingle with your BFF’s (ask your grandkids). Trust me, you’ll still be able to make first lift.
Here are the details:

This will be our last event of the season. Maybe the last time you’ll see some of our extended family of PT until either next fall or even next winter. See you there!!!
2013-14 Season Ski Passes:
The best skiing in the east comes at a price folks. SR has announced their early buy season pass prices for next winter. Starting 3/15, if you buy before April 30th, here are the deals:

Gold: $999 (adult), $665 (senior), $30 (80+)
Silver: $665 (adult), $559 (senior)
Bronze: $389 (all ages)
From my perspective, I see a couple things. First, it’s good to be a senior. Unlimited skiing for six months for $665. Second I see little benefit in the senior silver pass. Non-seniors who ski mainly weekends have a tough call between gold and silver at a $300 hurdle. For many, the bronze pass continues to be the “best value” at a $600 discount from gold (adult) and a $300 discount for seniors (and we get to rest weekends). Keep in mind, we hope and believe we will be able to secure corporate discount coupons again next year and those can help with President’s week, or other blackout skiing. Each of us needs to do an analysis for what’s best for us.
