Board Update, March 1, 2013

Hi all,
We’ve got plenty of base now. The blizzard a week or so ago dropped about 18″, last weekend we got another 8 or so and yesterday was somewhere between 10-15″. I can’t quite count that high (ran out of fingers and toes), but there appears to be plenty for everyone. SR’s 300 new snow guns are going to have to sit and wait a while. Sorry, we don’t need you right now.
For skiers, let’s move on out and gobble up some of this white.
First in line we have a new opportunity, which is not technically a Primetime event, but something we’d like to endorse and support. The local Rotary Club (Bethel/Newry) is holding a community benefit to help sponsor both local projects and school scholarships. The event has heavy apps (you won’t have to eat) sponsored by the Good Food Store and multiple wines and beers to try out. Keep in mind we had 27 sign up for our Wine Tasting at the Summit last month. Here’s a chance where all can go and enjoy a night out with friends. It’s a great opportunity to go out, have some fun and also help out the Rotary and the local kids.
Rotary Wine & Beer Tasting Event:
Saturday March 16th, 6-8pm
White Cap Lodge
Cost: $30/person (at door)
I have a couple of updates and then I’ll shut up.
Potluck Thursday March 7th:
At Summit as previously noted. Our last potluck this year. Be there at our old stomping grounds. We haven’t had a potluck at the Summit all year. It’s time to take it back and we’ll do that next Thursday. Come on along BYOB and a dish for 6-8 please.
Sugarloaf/Saddleback Trip (March 18-20):
This is your last chance to jump in and do a few turns somewhere other than the peaks of Sunday River. I know it’s tough to leave this much snow, but believe it or not, there is snow elsewhere too and who knows? It could be even better, or at least very different. Cost is nothing at Sugarloaf, cheap at Saddleback and the hotel is very inexpensive too. What’s the downside?
Update:
Herbert Hotel rates are DOWN from $80-$100 to $59-$75 for a room with a seasons pass to SR/Loaf (which we all have).
We have extended the sign up date until next Wednesday, 3/6. Contact suziecurves@myfairpoint.net or 207-712-6661.
End of Season Dinner (Thursday March 21st):
Our annual end of the season dinner has been finalized. We’re trying the Sudbury Inn (upstairs) this year.t. While everyone loved the Phoenix for the past couple years, a little variety is cool. We own the Sudbury for this PRIVATE PARTY. We’ll take over the lobby and bistro for the cocktail segment then have the whole place to ourselves for the rest of the night. We’ve negotiated a simple one price ($35) including both tax and tip. It’s unlikely you can go out for that price on your own. Additionally, house wines are only $5/glass all night.
5:00-6:30 (cocktail party):
A variety of appetizers including mini meatballs and quiche as well as a veggie tray
6:30-7:15 (presentation and awards)
7:15 (dinner):
Salad and Rolls
Choice:
  • SLICED NY SIRLOIN w/ mashed potatoes and vegetables
  • CHICKEN MARSALA over linguini
  • BAKED HADDOCK w/rice and vegetables
Dessert:
Choice of Creme Brule or Ice Cream Puffs w/chocolate sauce (choose at event)
Coffee or Tea
Cost: $35pp IN ADVANCE. Once committed, we’re committed.
Contact: Suzie DuBois suziecurves@myfairpoint.net for reservation and meal selection by 3/12
Payment: Due to Bruce Marshman 88 Valley View, Newry, ME 04261
This will be our last event of the season. Maybe the last time you’ll see some of our extended family of PT until either next fall or even next winter. See you there!!!
Go have fun.
Jeff
