Board Update, February 18, 2013

Well, it’s President’s Week, but it’s a bit breezy up here. I’m no weatherman, but It was so windy that the mayor of Munchkinland stopped by for a drink and we watched Todo go 40mph down Sundance…. without skis!!! Today is forecast to unfortunately be much the same with very high winds and everything (ex Sundance and SR Express) down at the moment. Good news is we’re clearing this system out and it should be better by the afternoon and thereafter maybe even a little white mid-week.
Saturday Feb. 23rd
Primetime on TV
Most of you are likely back home, but any of you who are around, tune in to RSN (Ch.7) at 8:00am Saturday. Primetime will be the topic of the day, live. I can’t give you many details but I’ve been asked to spend a little time with the RSN team on air Saturday at 8. Tune in if you can.
We’re already at the mid-point of the season. Snow has been relatively abundant and there’s plenty to ski. Let’s ski it well……and here’s one way to do that!!!
We have BRAND NEW AND EXCITING EVENT for when you come back from President’s vacation. As a preface, the ski school director, Joe Meniman and I have worked together for two years now trying to figure out how to give our PT members some value in lessons. Joe and SR came through in spades.
Thursday Feb. 28th (1:00pm ONLY)
A FREE Ski Lesson
  • You choose a “Blue” or “Black” 90 minute lesson Each ski school instructor will take a maximum six (6) members.
  • Only restriction: Must inform me via email jeffzucchi@aol.com if interested by Sunday Feb 25th (need to know your choice of blue or black please).
  • Meet at SR Perfect Turn shack at 1:00pm (must sign waiver form) , depart 1:15
  • Bring some cash~the least we can do is to tip our instructor PLEASE!!!! I suggest $5-$10
Three comments.
1. Regardless of how good you are if you pick up one thing from a lesson, you’ve improved. Don’t pass up this FREE gift.
2. Sunday River has proven a true partner with PT. Just this year, a wonderful Go-50 week slate, free buns and coffee at 10am, a great appetizer buffet and passed apps at Barker, management skiing with our group, and now FREE lessons. That’s a partner.
3. After this, if you’d like to take a group lesson they go out by South Ridge at 10:30 (meet at 10am to sign forms, pay) and 1pm each weekday. Cost is only $35 for 90 minutes.
Think about it. We spend almost all winter here. Big bucks on skis, boots and clothes. Couldn’t we enjoy it even more if we had a few tips to help??

Summary
It’s been a great first half to the season. We’re in between a big 18″ snowstorm and waiting for the next one. It will come, hopefully sooner rather than later. That little Pennsylvania rat said an early spring is due. Don’t believe it. His reputation hasn’t been all that great since he forecast a long winter last year and we watched snow melt at 70+ degrees March 15th. Rodent doing weather!!
